SAGAING DIVISION – Local residents of Myaung Township held a protest against the Sitagu Monk who told the public to forgive the junta council for killing Venerable Baddanatta Monnadarbiwuntha, a former member of the Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and the head monk of Winnammaitaryon Monastery in Bago, and spoke out that there is no reason to be patient with the murder of the venerable monk.
The protestors held up banners, “No matter the religion, we don’t want the murderous fascist junta army”, “There’s no reason for forgiveness”, “We don’t want the Sitagu Monk” and “We don’t want the fascist army that kills children and women”.
The protest was joined by local civilians and teachers from schools under the NUG Ministry of Education in Myaing Township.
Buddhist monks recently gathered in Chaung U Township of Sagaing Division on June 23 to begin the Pattanikkozzina Strike (a form of protest unique to Buddhist monks) to protest against the junta council for killing Venerable Baddanatta Monnadarbiwuntha.
