KACHIN STATE- A Kachin military source reported that a battle between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Military Council took place today (June 27) near Khatcho Village, Winemaw Township, and the Military Council reportedly suffered losses.
The battle started at around 8:30 a.m. on June 27 and lasted about an hour and a half.
“There was a clash between the junta troops and the KIA forces near the banana farm in the east of Khatcho village. The junta side suffered the most. It is reported that a large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized,” a military source said.
The KIA has attacked and occupied several military council camps in Winemaw Township this year, including some battalion headquarters.
The KIA and the Military Council Army also clashed in Phakant Township on June 25 and 26, resulting in many deaths and injuries, including officers and the police, the source said.
In addition, there have been clashes in Momauk Township recently, and the military council is reinforcing its forces in Mansi and Banmaw Townships.
