MON STATE – Karen National Union (KNU) Dutahtoo (Thaton) District announced that three civilians including a 12 year old child and a 85 year old woman were injured and a house and a religious buildings were damaged by junta air and artillery strikes in Thaton and Hpaan Townships.
Light infantry battalion 9 of the terrorist junta council fired three heavy artillery shells into the villages in Danu Area of Thaton Township on April 22 around 11 p.m. One of those shells exploded in Mayan Village and a civilian house was damaged as a result.
The terrorist junta council is also said to have fired 17 shells from a Y12 plane into the villages in Hpaan Township from 8:30 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. on April 20.
As a result of the attack, a 12 year old from Hteenu Village was hit in his right arm and a 85 year old woman received a minor injury in her neck and was also wounded in her legs while a building inside the monastery compound in the village was damaged.
In addition, the terrorist junta council’s Peinaetaw base fired four artillery shells into the villages in Minlwin Area of Thaton Township on April 18 and one of the shells landed and exploded in front of a shop in Wanbeinn Village.
The explosion destroyed five oil barrels in the shop and damaged two cars belonging to a resident of the village while the father of the shop owner was injured in his right shin.
