MANDALAY DIVISION – There was a heavy rain and a lightning strike in Thabeikkyin Township, resulting in three deaths of IDPs (Internally Displaced People) while nine others were injured, according to an official of Thabeikkyin Township People’s Defence Force.
A storm occurred in Thabeikkyin Township at about 4:00 p.m. on May 2 and during the heavy rain, twelve IDPs From Koe Pin Village were hit by lightning bolt and three of them reportedly died on the spot and nine were injured. It was said that the refugee tents in the vicinity were also destroyed.
The people who lost their lives were 53-year-old Mr. Myo Myint, 46-year-old Mr. Zaw Oo and 35-year-old Mr. Win Lwin, and all of the dead and injured people were villagers of Koe Pin Village, Kyar Nyat Village Tract, Thabeikkyin Township, and had been forced to flee due to the terrorist junta soldiers’ raid since April 25.
