MANDALAY DIVISION – Due to the intense battles in Thabeikkyin Township, around 3,000 people have been displaced and are having difficulties with food.
From March 5 to 7, two junta columns invaded Mataung Village, Magyeekone Village, and Sinnyatkone Village in Thabeikkyin Township from the direction of Tagaung Town.
There was a three-day-long battle between those two junta columns and the combined forces of Special Movement Battalion 3, Battalion 511, Battalion 512, Mandalay Division Drone Team and Thabeikkyin Township People’s Defence Team (PDT).
Due to those battles, around 3,000 people from five villages have been displaced, according to an official from Thabeikkyin Township, PDT.
“In terms of battles, it was a success. But when launching offensives or engaging in battles, civilians are the first to face difficulties. As the routes had to be closed due to intense battles, the displaced people were having food issues. Just as we are claiming victory in battles, we would like to request that the people aid the displaced people in our region,” said the official from Thabeikkyin PDT.
Due to the battles, the Sintgu-Thabeikkyin-Tagaung Road is still closed.
The No. 1 Military Region Office of the People’s Defence Force announced that 14 dead bodies of junta soldiers were found and weapons and ammunition, including 18 rifles, were confiscated during said battle.
The No. 1 Military Region Office also informed that since March 7, the junta council has carried out three aerial bombings and also attacked with machine guns and that a PDF soldier also fell in battle.
