RAKHINE STATE – The locals said that the battles were happening continuously for two days in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State and the junta council carried out air and artillery attacks in the villages.
The battles were happening continuously between the terrorist junta council and the Arakan Army (AA) on Monday (April 22) and Tuesday (April 23) in Thandwe Township and the terrorist junta carried out airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks.
It has been known that terrorist junta targeted Dawmya Village and Payityaykyauk Village with heavy weapons, airstrikes and multi-lunch missiles. Due to that, the whole villagers absconded and the damages inside the villages couldn’t be confirmed yet.
Clashes first broke out between the Arakan Army and the terrorist junta column active at the border of Thandwe and Toungup Townships near Dawmya Village with AA also launching an offensive on the junta camp at Thahtay Hydro Power project. The junta council reportedly turned to airstrikes in the battle near Dawmya Village after suffering heavy casualties.
In addition, terrorist junta soldiers killed Mr. Soe Thu an express bus driver while he was passing along the Toingup – Thandwe Road during the battle on April 22. More than five passengers were injured seriously.
A local said that the dead body of Mr. Soe Thu who killed by junta forces was sent to his house in Anttaw Village on April 23 about 10:30 a.m., adding that there were bullet wounds in his hand, thigh, forehead.
It has been reported that the terrorist junta council increased security by more than five times in Thandwe Township, added more security gates and were conducting strict checks on the civilians.
