SHAN STATE – (NORTH) – The coup council declared the transfer of Hopang and Pan Lon towns in the Northern Shan state over UWSA (United Wa State Army) on January 4. On June 14, UWSP/UWSA (United Wa State Party/ United Wa State Army) declared that those regions were officially placed under the administration of UWSA.
After the Three Brotherhood Forces captured Hopang town in January, UWSA troops were stationed in Hopang town. The junta council announced the transfer of Hopang town over UWSA, on January 13.
UWSA officially announced that they added Pan Lon, which is located 20 miles away from Hopang, to Wa state territory.
UWSP issued that the temporary administration of UWSA’s brigade 318 was repealed in Hopang district and transferred it over to the UWSP administrative body. The positions of the secretary, district commander were also assigned.
The 2008 constitution enacted by the coup council, which the revolutionary forces don’t consent to, designates Hopang and Pan Lon towns as a district in Ward self-administrative region which is under the control of the junta council. According to the 2014 census, there are 54849 people in Hopang town and 6206 people in Pan Lon town.
