SAGAING DIVISION – Resident people reported that fighting is intense between the junta and revolutionary forces for more than two weeks in Homalin Township and civilians are fleeing.
Starting around mid-May, battle broke out in Homalin Township between junta forces and revolutionary forces and the junta council is said to have cut off internet and mobile networks. It is also reported that Shan Ni Army (SNA) militia is also helping the junta forces in the battle but majority of the villages in the township are currently under control of revolutionary forces.
“Internet and mobile networks are still unavailable in Homalin Township. Battles have been ongoing for around two weeks. There are battles between local defence forces and junta and SNA forces in and around Homalin. The villages around Homalin are under control of local defence forces,” said the local source.
Moreover, it is said that civilians in Homalin Township are fleeing due to the battles and the displaced people are facing difficulties as it is the beginning of rainy season and the battles are still ongoing.
“Even though it is raining without pause, battles are still intense amidst the rain and rising water,” said the local source.
Junta and SNA forces are mainly setting up for defence in Homalin while revolutionary forces are battling to seize control of the township.
