MYANMAR – The followers of Venerable Baddanatta Monnadarbiwuntha announced on June 24 and urged to start a Pattanikkozzina Strike (where Buddhist monks refused to offer religious services) against the junta regime that continued to abduct and murder monks.
The announcement read, “Please hear us, respected monks, these people who are horrible and cruel and commit torture and murder without kindness are beating up, detaining and even harming the lives of monks under baseless claims. We would like to inform that we are starting a protest against these people who are horrible and cruel and commit torture and murder without kindness by not interacting with them. Please let us hear your comments on this protest. If the venerable monks stay quiet, we will take it as approval.”
The terrorist junta council caused the death of Venerable Baddanatta Monnadarbiwuntha, the head monk of Winnammaitaryon Monastery on June 19 and again killed Venerable U Uttama from Sakhama Village in Myingyan on June 22.
The terrorist junta council has been abducting and killing monks since the military coup in addition to destroying the country every day.
At present, Buddhist monks in Chaung U Township of Sagaing Division have started the Pattanikkozzina Strike against the junta regime.
