MYANMAR – The Ministry of Education (MOE) of the National Unity Government (NUG) issued a statement on Thursday (June 6), condemning the terrorist junta council for its attacks targeting schools.
The statement mentioned the June 4 bomb blast in a primary school compound in Eainshaypyin Ward of Dawei, Tanintharyi Division that killed three young children and injured over 20 people and the June 5 airstrikes targeting Kan Myint Kone Monastery in Myaing Township, Magway Division which killed at least four people including IDP students and more than 20 civilians.
The Ministry pointed out that the terrorist junta council bombing and shelling the schools as well as stationing its forces at schools are blatant violations of the UNSC resolutions and international human rights laws and stated that it seriously condemns any organisation that commits terrorist acts such as using schools as bases for military operations and targeting and attacking the education institutions.
MOE also added that there is an urgent need for the international community to set up effective preventative measures and actions for the young children of Myanmar who are suffering in the education sector and ensure a safe environment so that the children are able to safely pursue their education.
The MOE also vowed to fight together with the people till military dictatorship is eradicated and federal democracy is established in Myanmar.
