SHAN STATE – Residents said that a CDM doctor and 2 nurses who were arrested in Nyaung Shwe, Inlay area have not been in contact with their families as of October 31.
Last October 12th, a doctor and a nurse couple from Mai Pyo village, on October 17th, a female nurse from Ywa Gyi Taung village, total 3 people were arrested. It was said that they are being detained at No. (1) police station in Taung Gyi but were not allowed to see their families.
“The nurse from Ywa Gyi Taung worked at Nang Pan Hospital and she has a son. Her husband died only 10 months ago. She was caught while struggling hard. But it is not possible to know about the doctor couple from Mai Pyo,” said a man close to them.
Although thrre of them are detained at No. (1) police station in Taung Gyi, the family members are worried that they will be sent to the interrogation center of the Eastern Regional Military Command because they are not allowed to see their family members.
A resident said that after the coup d’etat, most of the employees in the Inlay area join CDM, but the Ministry of Health under the junta council sent warning letters to only 3 of them frequently, and the rest of the CDM employees were not sent warning letters.
A resident said, “She was arrested for not doing anything political except joining the CDM. I don’t know how they got the information that she was hiding. Now the whole family is avoiding the junta council. Her aunt said that she was not allowed to see when she went to the No. (1) police station,”
After the military coup in 2021, on November 19th, a CDM principal of Sekhaung village School in Inlay Region, an assistant and 3 members of the school committee were arrested by force by the junta council, jailed for 2 years and released after that.
