MYANMAR – President Jose Ramos Horta of Timor-Leste vowed to help the National Unity Government (NUG) in strengthening its diplomatic influence across the globe.
The president made this promise during his meeting with NUG Union Minister of health and education Zaw Wai Soe and Union Minister of Foreign Affairs Zin Mar Aung at the presidential palace in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste on June 18.
The NUG issued a statement that President Jose Ramos Horta said that he has made the decision to help the NUG, especially to spread the diplomatic influence of NUG across the globe.
At the meeting, the two sides warmly discussed the cooperation between the two sides including the current state of affairs in Myanmar for around two hours.
Following that, the Myanmar representative team also had a friendly meeting with Timor-Leste Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Bendito Freitas at his office.
At the press conference after the meeting, NUG Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe expressed that it was an honour to visit Timor-Leste and the presidential palace and mentioned that they discussed the matters of health, education and revolution and the public services provided by NUG in the territories controlled by revolutionary forces in Myanmar after greeting the president and cooperation for health and education sectors between the two countries.
Union Minister Zin Mar Aung also thanked the president for raising awareness for the Myanmar people and the Myanmar revolution and reiterated the request for economic sanctions and diplomatic pressures on the junta council to end the military coup and restore democracy in Myanmar, mentioning the increase in controlled territory of the NUG and the humanitarian assistance provided by the NUG in those areas, adding that the biggest challenges are airstrikes of the terrorist junta council targeting civilians.
