SHAN STATE (EAST) – It was reported that junta forces prohibited the civilians who are over 18 years old but still haven’t changed the Identification Card to adults’ IC from traveling. They were stopped at inspection gate and family members were summoned to pick up them.
A resident of Mongnawng, who has not yet changed the IC was being scrutinized at junta council’s gate and banned on the way to Tachileik Town.
“They told me that many people have gone to Thailand recently. They don’t allow me to go back home. They said family must come and pick me up. They don’t allow even with the phone call, must come in person. So my brother from Tachileik had to come to bring me home,” she explained.
She continued that the inspection gates at the exit of Keng Tung Town scrutinize more people from northern Shan State and civilians are allowed to continue the journey only if they give more than 100 thousands of Kyats.
After the fascist council and its allied Shan armed forces issued the conscription law in northern Shan State, most of the local residents fled to Thailand, so the junta council checked and did not allow the middle-aged people to travel, and asked their families to bring them back home.
