SAGAING DIVISION – The junta forces raided Le Shay Village by recklessly firing heavy artillery shells in Kani Township on Tuesday (May 16), killing one child. The body could be only cremated after three days.
Starting from May 11, junta council soldiers have been raiding Nabu Taw, Ban Bwae, and Htan Zin Villages. The next day, they were stationed at Min Ma Village after passing through Le Shay and Twin Villages.
The junta side had many casualties during the two-day battle with PDF comrades. The junta forces retreated, and were stationed at Le Shay Village for the second time. “On May 12, they just passed through the village and did nothing. After suffering casualties from the Min Ma Village Battle, they recklessly fired heavy artillery shells at us. We couldn’t carry anything and fled to survive. Around ten villagers were wounded due to their shells. Ms. Moe Moe, 14, was killed on the spot when the shell dropped and exploded at her house. They raided the village by firing, and we couldn’t bring her body,” said a resident.
“Then, they were stationed at our village on May 16 and 17. On May 18 morning, they left, and we were able to go back to the village and cremate Ms. Moe Moe’s body,” said a resident. Those junta troops also looted valuable items, killed buffaloes and cattle, and terrorized the civilians by firing inside the village.
The junta council soldiers also abducted over ten villagers as hostages when they left. On Thursday (May 18), the junta soldiers launched an offensive heading north. Their direction is Chaung Ma (East and West), Thint Wint, Min Ma, Thamet Chan, Yakkan Tai, and Kywal Thout Kan Villages and civilians are fleeing to a safe place.
