MYANMAR – National Unity Government (NUG) announced on September 14 that since the terrorist army led by Min Aung Hlaing had seized the power, drug production and illegal transportation in Myanmar has increased more than in the past.
In the statement, it is stated that drug production, illegal transportation and trading in Myanmar has increased more than in the past, and the dangers of drugs and psychotropic drugs have spread to neighboring countries as cross-border crimes.
In addition, the prevention of the dangers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs that can destroy humanity is defined as a responsibility of the revolution. According to the statement of the National Unity Government, Myanmar will implement the provisions of the United Nations Conventions on Combating the Illegal Trafficking in Narcotics and Psychotropic Medicines, which Myanmar has signed.
In accordance with the provisions of National Unity Government’s Law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Drugs (1993) and the Law amending this law (2018), the necessary mechanisms for the prevention and control of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs will be formed, and collaborate with the countries that are members of the United Nations Convention, international organizations, the neighboring countries and Revolutionary allies.
The public’s participation in the prevention and control of narcotics and psychoactive drugs is very important, so it is requested that the public should cooperate with the National Unity Government.
