SHAN STATE – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Yangon reported on November 10 that around 50,000 people have been forced to flee from their homes due to fierce armed conflicts in Shan (North) State.
Artillery attacks and air raids have continued to occur in most of the townships in Shan (North) State and civilians were injured, lost their lives and displaced, said the UN.
According to reports up to November 9, about 50,000 people have been displaced, and are sheltering at religious buildings, moved near border areas or fled to the Chinese territory.
According to the UN’s data, the displaced people number around 13,000 in Laukkai, 5,000 in Nam Tit of Wa area, 5,000 in Hsenwi, 5,000 in Namhkan, 7,000 in Muse, 8,000 in Lashio, 3,000 in Kutkai, 1,000 in Kyaukme and 2,000 in Nawnghkio respectively.
Moreover, both the Three Brotherhood Alliance and the terrorist junta army have blocked the transportation in Shan (North) State, according to the UN.
