RAKHINE STATE – Local residents reported that fighting is intense between the Arakan Army (AA) and the terrorist junta council near Gott Ward in Ngapali, Thandwe Township and that the junta council is conducting air strikes.
Junta and AA forces clashed near Gott Village starting around 4 p.m. on June 2 and it is said that the fighting remained intense throughout June 3 while the junta council carried out navy and air attacks.
“Battle started near Gott Village since around 4 p.m. yesterday (June 2). Civilians only realized that there was a battle after bullets landed on their roofs around 7 p.m. They initially thought it was just the junta forces opening fire for no reason. The fighting came to a pause at past 11 p.m. There were heavy artillery attacks and weapons fired by the (junta) navy. It was intense even at 11 p.m. but things are quiet for now. The junta council conducted four aerial bombings,” a local resident explained the situation.
At present, junta fighter jets are reportedly still hovering over Gott Ward and the situation regarding casualties on the junta side is yet to be confirmed.
