CHIN STATE – According to the statement by the Chin Human Rights Organisation (CHRO), almost half of the population of Chin state, around 250,000 people, have been forced to flee to other places in the country and to the neighbouring countries. And they have not received any humanitarian aids and have faced difficulties.
Within three years, almost a half of the population, around 250,000 people from Chin state where there were around 500,000 people before the coup in 2021, have been forced to flee. They have been facing the problem of being homeless and in dire situations without receiving any humanitarian aid.
Besides the civilians from Tedim town where the battles are currently breaking out, the civilians from Tonzang, Cikha have been forced to flee and they have been facing food shortages.
According to the lists by the Chin State Government which was issued in 2020, there are 96696 households and 520032 people in Chin state.
