SHAN STATE – Locals reported that they were summoned to a meeting and were asked to give from 10,000 to 30,000 Kyats per household every three months to use for the conscripted soldiers deployed in Heho Town of Kalaw Township.
The fascist army, general administration department, and Town and ward administration groups summoned the public to compulsorily come to the assembly hall of Heho Town on June 25, and threatened the people to fork out the mentioned money to support the people serving in the junta army.
“They (junta lackeys) collected money for military service, for the conscripted soldiers, and to hire people who will serve in place of those who do not want to serve in the army. The amount varies from ward to ward. They said that it is mandatory to contribute once every three months. It is also heard that those who do not want to join the army must pay 5 million kyats. The households that did not contribute money in the last three months due to financial reasons have to pay double this time, including for those three months. Civilians were threatened to pay money even when they are facing financial trouble,” said a resident who attended the meeting.
The middle ward 1 and middle ward 2 of Heho Town were asked to pay 30,000 kyats per household in every three months.
The households from middle ward 3, the East Ward, the ward near the market and Nangone ward were asked to pay 10,000 kyats every three months.
The meeting convened at Heho town assembly hall on June 25 was guarded by the police from outside, and the general admin staff took attendence list and also recorded the event. The junta council members from the army, general administration groups, ward administrators, the hundred-household chiefs and ten-household chiefs attended the meeting.
