
KAREN STATE – A civilian was hit by the artillery shell because of the junta’s soldiers’ aimless firing in KNU Brigade (5) area, Hpapun District, Kayin State, according to a statement of KNU Brigade(5) on Monday (June 20).
A local woman was said to be injured after being hit by the artillery shell fired by the junta’s soldiers in Daylawpu Village, Maekalaw Village Tract, Butho Township, Hpapun District at around 9 a.m on Saturday(June 18).
The junta’s soldiers opened fire on purpose, according to the KNU.
Battles have been raging daily between the junta’s forces and KNLA in KNU Brigade(5), and the junta’s forces are using heavy artillery and air strikes.
It was stated in the monthly report of KNU Brigade(5) that two civilians were killed and 14 were injured as the junta’s force and Karen Border Guard(BGF) coalition fired 106 artillery shells.
