TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Locals said that a man in a ward of Dawei was beaten and arrested by junta council soldiers on May 10 night. The young man was arrested at his home after military vehicles entered Saw Minyo Street in Bum Maw ward around 9:00 p.m.
Before the arrest, the man was surrounded by military council soldiers and police and severely beaten. “I heard that he was beaten very badly. Then he was put in a car and arrested,” said a resident.
Although the resident said that the arrest was due to personal dissatisfaction and complained to the military council, it could not be confirmed independently.
The name of the arrested man is not yet known, nor is it known where he was taken.
Dawei City is a place where military council forces have tightened their security, and they are checking and arresting motorcycles and doing night patrols every day.
