RAKHINE STATE – Bangladesh authorities confirmed that 40 junta border guards had crossed into Bangladesh with their weapons after fleeing the attacks by the Arakan Army (AA) in Buthitaung and Maungtaw Townships.
The junta border guards that fled into Bangladesh on May 3 night and May 4 were reportedly detained by Bangladesh after having their weapons confiscated.
Those 40 border guards were the third batch of junta forces that fled into Bangladesh after Bangladesh had repatriated a first batch of 330 junta forces on February 15 and a second batch of 288 junta forces on April 25 back to Myanmar.
