MAGWAY DIVISION – ABSDF (All Burma Students Democratic Front) Column 3 information officer Mr. Pyae Phyo Kyaw said that the Yaw Region based Battalion 12 has started the harvest of its sesame fields and is also helping with the harvest of the fields belonging to the families of its members.
Harvest reportedly began for the over eight acres of the field belonging to the battalion that were planted back in May, around August 10.
“The oil received from the harvest will be mainly used when cooking for the battalion. Our comrades also helped out with the harvest of fields belonging to families of our members,” said Mr. Pyae Phyo Kyaw.
In addition to sesame, ABSDF Column 3 had also planted three acres of rice as well as a variety of crops, having planted a total of 15 acres of fields this rainy season. It is said that the harvest from the fields will contribute towards the ration of the battalion and will also be shared with the people.
Both the members of ABSDF and local civilians helped out with the planting and the force has planned to plant ground nut as the main crop in the next season.
In the third week of May, ABSDF Column 3 Battalion 12 successfully harvested two acres of ground nut planted in February that yielded 100 tins (one tin~41kg) and contributed towards the cooking oil of the battalion.
