SAGAING – The special commando troops of Tamu People Defense Force (PDF) launched an ambush on the Junta forces stationed at Nanhparlon school in Tamu township, Sagaing on Sunday (April 17) night, killing 4 Junta soldiers including a corporal, according to the statement issued by Tamu PDF (Battalion 1).
The statement said that the joint commando forces under Battalion (1) and Battalion (2) of Tamu PDF launched a surprise attack on the Junta forces stationed at Nanhparlon high school in Myoma (12/Ka) ward in Tamu at around 7 pm on April 17, the Myanmar New Year’s Day.
“During the attack, a total of four Junta soldiers including a corporal were killed on the road in front of the school. Our PDF troops managed to successfully retreat without suffering any losses,” said Tamu PDF Battalion (1).
It is said that the Junta troops, together with an ambulance, arrived at the scene about thirty minutes after the Tamu PDF had retreated. And then they recklessly fired several rounds of heavy and light weapons, picked up the dead bodies and headed back towards Tamu around 9 pm.
Tamu, located on the India-Myanmar border has been experiencing frequent clashes between the local PDFs and Junta forces. The local PDFs have been adapting defensive guerrilla tactics against the Junta forces based in the region of Tamu.
