JAPAN – Prayers for the 77th birthday of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, who was arrested and has been imprisoned by the junta regime, and prayers for the liberation of Myanmar from military slavery rule, were held on (Sunday) June 19 in various cities, including Tokyo, in Japan.
Myanmar nationals in Japan and Japanese nationals working on Myanmar’s affairs together conducted the prayer service for Ms Aung San Suu Kyi in Tokyo, Nagoya, Okayama, Shizuoka, and Yokohama cities.
Alms were offered to monks at Gotemba Peace Stupa in Shizuoka Prefecture to commemorate Ms Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday and for the liberation of Myanmar.
Leading by Japanese monk Majimajoukei San, a prayer service was held at the Metta Dhika Stupa in Nagoya City by offering a birthday cake and releasing 77 balloons.
In Tokyo, a revolutionary birthday celebration was held, including mass blood donations and the release of fish.
Similarly, a prayer service was conducted at Nakahara Peace Park in Yokohama City for the commemoration of the 77th birthday of people’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi, the release of political prisoners and the liberation of all Myanmar people from military slavery rule.
NUG’s Representative to Japan Saw Bla Thein, who attended the event said, “We held interfaith prayer service at World Peace Pagoda in Shizuoka Prefecture this morning. Myanmar nationals in Japan were also joining the prayer service respectively elsewhere.”
A birthday prayer service as well a charity feast, and a fundraising event for the people from central Myanmar, which has suffered from the onslaught of the military junta, were also held at Nakahara Peace Park.
