This is not a drill, BTS fans!
The group’s youngest member, Jungkook, is officially launching his solo era.
While the maknae has released numerous singles as gifts to fans through the years (like his love letter to ARMY, “Still With You”) and collaborations like “Left and Right” with Charlie Puth and his World Cup anthem, “Dreamers,” with Fahad Al Kubaisi, July 2023 will mark the start of his actual solo debut.
On June 29, Big Hit announced via Weverse that Jungkook will release his first single, “Seven,” on July 14 at 1 pm KST, adding that the track is an “invigorating ‘summer song’ that is sure to have you experience the full breadth of Jung Kook’s charm.”
While fans won’t know for sure what the meaning behind the song’s title is until it’s out in full, seven is a meaningful number to BTS and their fans because it’s the number of members in the group. Jungkook is also the “seventh” member in the group’s official lineup. On most official content, the members are always listed in the same order: first is their leader, RM, followed by the rest of the members in order by age: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and then Jungkook.
While the initial announcement for “Seven” indicated it was a digital release, it’s available for purchase in CD format for $1.99 in the US on Big Hit’s music store.
Not much else is known about Jungkook’s single, or whether or not the solo album he’s tirelessly worked on throughout 2023 will follow shortly after its release.
All that’s certain is ARMYs are ready to show up and show out for Jungkook’s solo debut.
