Cambodia invited the junta Minister to ASEAN defense ministers’ meeting (ADMM) despite of the demands of the human right communities to dismiss his attendance due to hundreds of atrocious incidents committed by junta regime.
Nam Sowat, the Director General of the department of policy and foreign affair, Ministry of Defense, mentioned that he invited all of ASEAN defense ministers to ADMM which would be held on June 22.
General Mya Htun Oo, who was sanctioned by U.S Government was also invited to ADMM. He was sanctioned due to participation in dethroning the elected government led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
He replied the reporters that he needed to invite all member states and also got permission from eight ASEAN member states. Cambodia decided to invite despite appeal of 677 local communities to oppose his attendance to ADMM due to brutal crimes committed by junta regime.
It was written that inviting Mr. Mya Htun Oo to ADMM did not meet the expectation of the preliminary decision of ASEAN not to allow the representatives of junta regime to any meeting, in a letter which was sent to ASEAN defense ministers.
The communities claimed that allowing the junta regime to ADMM would be supportive factor for them to become official government.
