
Mandalay Prime Minister, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, has been sentenced to four years in prison by the Myanmar junta.
Dr. Zaw Myint Maung was sentenced to two years imprisonment under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, two years imprisonment under Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law, and one-year imprisonment under Section 30 (a).
A member of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung’s legal team said, “Dr. Zaw Myint Maung has been sentenced. For section 505 (b), he will be two years in prison. No deductions are allowed. The natural disaster case has two sections. The sentence for section 25 is two years and the sentence for section 30 (a) is one-year and can be served concurrently. So, he will serve four years in total,”

Dr. Zaw Myin Maung is also suffering from leukemia. In addition, he was charged under Section (55) of the Anti-corruption law and Section 130 (a) of the Penal Code.
