Kayin National Union ( KNU) chairman, General Saw Mu Tuu Sae Pho said, “ Killing each other courageously in the whole country will not get us to the destination of Peace. There has to be a face-to-face mutual discussion at the table.”
KNU Leader said this at The Fourth conference (second part) of the leaders of Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) that signed the national ceasefire agreement (NCA) held at Chang Mai, Thailand on March 29.
“I am not representing anyone but came as a special guest. I represent myself. I want to make it short. With the present conflicts in the country, it’s not possible to continue this kind of activity. If this continues, the peace that we look forward to, living together peacefully with different races, will not happen,” said General Saw Mu Tuu Sae Pho.
“This is what is being heard in the whole country and everyone knows that too. But the whole country is killing each other.
“If you look at Facebook, everything is in a mess. I am speaking my opinion not giving instructions or giving a speech. The present problem is killing each other. If we continue this, I can definitely say that there will never be peace in the country in my lifetime. We will end divided. As I said when I signed the NCA, we have killed courageously, we now have to be peaceful courageously.“
He added that there should be a face-to-face mutual discussion at the table instead of killing each other to reach the destination.
“Every time I am asked about this problem, I tell them I am old and will be 89 in April but I am not dead. I want to be around next year to see the Peace celebration. Not the kind that’s happening now. I believe the other leaders will hear what I am saying. We have to discuss and solve the problems at the table. Killing each other will not solve the problem,” explained the general.
KNU leader is persuading to have discussions but the junta troops are setting fires to the villages, killing the villagers, using airstrikes, shelling almost every day. Junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing will not discuss with the anti-junta groups but will annihilate them, it was mentioned in his speech on Fascist Revolution day, March 27.
The leader of the coup d’etat reminded the EAOS not to assist the anti-junta forces and to remain within the law.
The 4th conference (2nd part) of NCA-S EAO leaders will be held until April 2 and they will discuss holding a conference where all the ethnic groups could attend, a political road map and the new formation of the EAOs.
The conference was chaired by General Saw Mu Tuu Sae Pho, the Chairman of Restoration Council of Shan State(RCSS ) General Ywat Sit and New Mon State Chairman Naing Han Thar and each of them gave speeches.
The special guests included ambassadors from Canada, Finland, Norway, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, diplomats from other countries, representatives from USAID and observers.
Five groups including the Restoration Council of Shan State ( RCSS) and Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) of the NCA EAO s attended the meeting with the junta subordinate National Solidarity and Peacemaking Working Committee( NSPWC) on 28th March in Naypyidaw.
