KARENNI STATE – After the revolutionary forces gained territory in Karenni State, the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC) announced that buses are now running between Demoso, Mawchi and Maese.
The bus is said to be run by the transport sub department under the trade, investment and transport department of the IEC.
The transport department also issued the responsible persons for the bus route, namely Director Than Chaung, Deputy Directors Tain Tite and Tutu and Chief Officer Nono.
The trade, investment and transport department was formed on February 12 and the IEC appointed Mr. L Phaung Sho as the head of department. Mr. L Phaung Sho was the Minister for Karenni State during the civilian government term.
A Karenni resident commented, “This is the first bus route so I heard that it won’t be run every day. It probably mainly intends to support the places where there could be shortages and local travellers.”
The IEC was established on June 6 last year with the promise to fulfill the education, healthcare, food and basic necessity needs of the people including to implement civilian service projects and to protect the livelihoods of the people.
Meanwhile the Karenni Coalition has seized control of Demoso, Mawchi, Ywarthit and Shardaw Townships on the ground while Maese Town was captured completely since last year.
