MANDALAY DIVISION – The junta propaganda channels spread news of some people, in NLD T-shirts and holding signs wishing “Mother Suu” good health, protesting against violence in front of the National League for Democracy (NLD) office in Mandalay. The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday morning (September 21) in front of the NLD office at 35th Street, in Chan Aye Thar San Township.
Local residents, however, are sceptical of the protest, pointing out that it happened at a time when the NLD members had to remain in hiding due to the junta forces arbitrarily detaining and murdering the NLD party members.
Meanwhile, the junta subordinates under their Central Command are spreading the news on the clearly staged protest, saying that “Even their own (NLD) party members don’t accept them because of the terrorising acts of the People Defense Forces (PDF) under NUG/CRPH. NLD party members in Mandalay are protesting because innocent people including the members of NLD have been dying.”
The site of the protest, the office building of the NLD party at 35th Street in Chan Aye Thar San Township, is one of the NLD party offices in Mandalay that were bombed after the coup.
The junta forces have detained and imprisoned the leaders of Mandalay NLD party while their subordinate Thwaythaut (Blood brothers) group have been continuously abducting and murdering the members of the NLD and their associates, dumping the dead bodies at the roadside afterwards. As a result, NLD members do not dare to stay at their own homes and had to run away and hide.
