TANINTHARYI DIVISION – In some villages of Yephyu Township, Dawei District, the Junta’s administrators and Non-CDM staff have been lobbying the CDM teachers door-to-door to return to work since last week.
“They asked us to help because there are not enough teachers. They fired us in the first place because they knew what our attitudes and perceptions were. I couldn’t even believe them,” said a CDM staff who was lobbied.
These door-to-door campaigns are being carried out significantly in rural areas rather than in urban areas.
The Junta council fired more than seven hundred education staff for participating in the CDM movement in Yephyu Township. Only 99 out of 159 schools in Yephyu Township will be able to operate, and some remaining schools couldn’t be operated despite the enrollment in this academic year, according to the Junta Information Department.
On the other hand, the Ye-Phyu Township’s Board of Education, approved by the National Unity Government (NUG) and led by CDM education staff, has been implementing home-based education since last year.
