BAGO DIVISION – A member of a Local People’s Defence Force (LPDF) stated that Inn Thabauk Bridge, along the Kyaukkyi- Nat Than Kwin Road, near Seik Gyi Village in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Division, has been detonated for the second time by the cooperation of column 1 from Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 3 and Battalion 9 and collapsed on Monday (May 29) at around 12 a.m.
“This bridge has been used as one of the junta’s essential routes for their military operation to enter the Bago Yoma. That’s why this explosion seemed to be carried out as a military operation,” the LPDF member said.
The bridge is known to be an RC concrete bridge, 15 feet wide and 80 feet long, and around 20 feet of it had been destroyed due to the stated explosion.
In addition, the junta troops coming to inspect the destroyed bridge on May 30 at around 12 p.m. were reportedly attacked with drone-dropped grenades and the casualties could not be confirmed yet.
Inn Thabauk Bridge is just a bridge across a ditch, located along the road heading from Kyaukkyi downtown to Nat Than Kwin Village and was detonated on May 23 morning for the first time, resulting in a hole around five feet at the middle of the bridge.
Due to the damage at the bridge, locals reportedly have to use other routes as a substitution, facing longer travel times and more petrol usage.
