According to residents, junta police and soldiers chasing after the people who attacked the police station were hit by another bomb, resulting in one dead and three injured.
A local said that one junta police officer and three junta soldiers died chasing the attackers after they hit the Myoma Police Station in G Quarter, Khaymarthi Street, South Okkalapa.
“They chased them after the bomb attack and there was a shootout after which another bomb exploded,” he said.
An anonymous eyewitness said that the soldiers and police were caught up in another explosion while searching the Myanmar Economic Bank for the attackers.
“The police officer died at the hospital. The three soldiers are at the military hospital, gravely injured. Some passersby were injured too,” he said.
It has been reported that officer Aung Kyaw Oo from the police station died and three soldiers including Aye Maung were injured and are receiving treatment.
Residents of the street said that at least three civilians were injured by panic shooting from the police and soldiers.
There were shootings in Tharkayta, Kawt Hmue, Mayangone, and Hlaingtharya, and a quarter administrator, two-quarter heads, and a soldier died.
