KACHIN STATE – A KIA source said that the remaining 142nd battalion troops and non-CDM personnel in the Sino-Myanmar border town of Lweje in Momauk township have fled into China and the city has been officially occupied by the KIA as a town free from the Junta Council.
“The Chinese side has accepted the city guards and non-CDM personnel that remain in Lweje city. That is why they have all fled to China. So Lweje has become a city without a junta council and has completely fallen under the control of the KIA. At 10:00 p.m. last night, there were no military council members or staff in Lweje anymore,” said a KIA source.
Starting on March 27th, KIA and revolutionary forces started to attack the junta council camps on Bahmo – Lweje Road, and on April 1st, they attacked and captured Seinlong strategic camp, the last major camp of the military council in the area. On April 2nd, the KIA officially entered and occupied Lweje city.
Another KIA source also said that the area cleared the 142nd camp of the Lweje City Guard this morning.
“The whole of Jail has been captured. The war dogs have all fled to the Chinese side. The camp has been cleared this morning,” another KIA source said.
