KAREN STATE – The Saw Chitu-led Border Guard Force (BGF) that recently announced their break from the junta council and rebranded itself as Karen National Army (KNA), helped the junta forces fly the flag of the junta council in the base of junta infantry battalion 275 in Myawaddy that was captured and destroyed by Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) led revolutionary forces, according to revolution and military sources in Myawaddy.
“The flying of the flag was confirmed. It is also correct that the junta forces were brought in BGF vehicles to put up that flag. But currently, we have not seen that many forces deployed at the infantry battalion 275 base. It would be better to wait for the official releases by related organizations. I’d refrain from commenting, as it is a sensitive issue. So, it is true that the junta council flag was put up and that BGF brought them (the junta forces) in (to Myawaddy). There are not many deployed there. We don’t know how things will develop moving forward,” said a revolutionary and military source based in Myawaddy.
Junta Infantry Battalion 275 base was captured by KNLA-led forces on April 10 and around 200 junta forces stationed there fled within the night to Friendship Bridge No. 2.
