KAREN STATE – Karen National Union (KNU) Mutraw District announced on February 14 that two military camps of the terrorist junta council in KNU Brigade 5 controlled territory, Mutraw District were abandoned by the enemy troops.
On February 10 around 5 a.m., the terrorist junta forces from light infantry battalion 349 stationed at Lelkalaykyoe camp deserted their posts and joined with the junta forces stationed at Kyulu camp.
Then, Kyulu camp was also similarly deserted the next day at 6 a.m. and the junta forces fell back to the junta council’s Mawphu strategic base that is in the inner parts.
As the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) has been attacking the frontline camps of the junta council for a long period, junta forces reportedly were not able to travel on their usual offensive routes, ration transport routes nor drinking water collection routes.
As a result, the terrorist army could only rely on the unsustainable method of helicopters and had to give up their camps one after another to fall back to the main strategic bases nearby.
At present, KNLA and allied forces have been laying siege to the junta council’s Mawphu strategic base.
The terrorist junta council had stationed in Lelkalaykyoe camp since 1997 and at Kyulu camp since 2007 and had to abandon both camps within days.
