MYANMAR – It was reported that there are around 800,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in the military operations areas of seven Brigades under the Karen National Union (KNU), according to the Karen Human Rights Organization (KHRG).
The IPDs population has increased due to the terrorist junta’s targeted attacks on civilians and the fights between the Resistance Fighters and the murderous junta forces, said KHRG.
KHRG stated that in addition to the needs of food and shelters for the IPDs, they are in need of medicines for their health care.
“Especially, we don’t still have enough contributions to provide the basic food for the IDPs,” said Mr. Saw Nanda Suu, the spokesperson of KHRG.
Recently, the civilians have been forced to flee from their homes due to the clashes in the military operations areas of KNU’s Brigade – 3 in Mone Town of Bago Division and KNU’s Brigade – 6 in Kawkareik Township of Karen State.
