MANDALAY DIVISION – The monks of the Sangha Union held their recital of paritta and metta suttas for the 496th day on Sunday (June 19), the birthday of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Sangha Union (Mandalay) stated that the recital is intended for the political prisoners including hundreds on death row like Mr Jimmy and Mr Phyo Zeyar Thaw and the people, the heroes fighting against the Junta, adding that they have been holding recitals as a form of protest against the military dictatorship.
