KARENNI STATE – Junta torched Catholic Church, Father’s Home and Chapels in Daw Ngay Khu Village, Hpruso Township on June 15. Due to the counter-attack of the Karenni Defense Force (KNDF), at least 48 junta soldiers dead and a lot injured during over 30 clashes within 15 days, KNDF officials reported.
“The main reason of the junta meeting with some Ethnic Armed Organizations is to separate and weaken the revolutionary forces. There were nearly 30 continuous clashes from June 01 to June 15 and two on the same day in some places and almost the whole-day long clashes in some. Junta casualty was recorded total in 48 and could be more than that,” KNDF official said.
Clashes and battles have been happening every day in Northwest Military Region and Karenni State and casualties and injuries couldn’t be confirmed.
According to the information from officials of the Mindat People Administration Body (MPAB), even though Junta Troop has been stationed in cities of Chin State, Chin Defense Force (CDF) can seize back at any time.
As CDF continuously acted guerrilla attacks instead of defensive attacks as before, Junta fired with heavy weapons at the residents to scatter the guerrilla forces. Battles have been more and more intense in Mindat, Matupi, and Paletwa Townships in June.
“Alhough cities are controlled by Junta so far, PDF can attack 3 to 4 places at the same time (any time) with 40 to 50 forces instead of ambush with 5 to 10 forces. Junta seems to be formidable on this. Cause of this, Junta tortured residents in return like setting fire to the granary because one cannot beat the mice. They want to disunite between residents and PDF by using the fact that happened as of PDF attack,” MPAB officials Mr. Yaw Mung said.
Junta Troop didn’t announce the battle news normally and tried to recriminate PDF as all the violence was committed by PDF.
Although Junta Leader is offering to meet with some Ethnic Armed Organizations, political analysts commented as it was already late in the day to have a discussion way because of the military’s coup by violating the 2008 Myanmar constitution, for not complying with the ASEAN five common agreements, violence on civilian rights and properties such as attacks, kills and torture, long-years imprisonment to the State’s Counsellor, violence in Ethnic Regions by violating of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
