U.S.A – Ministry of Human Rights Union Minister U Aung Myo Min, National Unity Government, along with Deputy Minister U Moe Zaw Oo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with one of the top officials of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Bureau Of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Mr. Robert S. Gilchrist on June 22nd at the US State Department.
In the meeting, the Union Minister spoke about the current human rights situation in Myanmar, the worsening of the airstrikes, especially brutal attacks by terrorist groups targeting the civilians in Rakhine state.
The United States government has urged to take more measures against the terrorist group and to provide direct and beneficial assistance to the people of Burma.
In addition, to take more measures, including a stronger and more cooperative economic and arms export embargo, regarding the international crimes committed by the terrorist group against the civilian population. It is understood that they discussed providing direct assistance as soon as possible to those who fled due to the human rights violations and humanitarian crises systematically perpetrated by the terrorist military group, and to the new generation of young people who fled due to the forced military service law.
Officials of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs also promised to stand with the people of Myanmar and take more effective measures and help.
