MYANMAR – The National Unity Government (NUG) sent a congratulatory message to the 17th Congress Meeting of the Karen National Union (KNU).
It was stated that NUG wish for their alliance to be stronger and the trust to remain longer for the common goal of building a Federal Democratic State under collective leadership.
NUG also congratulated the newly appointed, trusted leaders and the president of KNU and wishes for their good health and mind until the organization has reached its goals.
The 17th KNU Congress was held from April 24 to May 4. It was reported that 45 permanent committee members and 11 central boards of directors including the president were elected and departmental staff were appointed. The vice president Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win was elected as the new president.
The seventeenth Karen National Union Congress aims to eradicate racism and dictatorship and fight for federal democracy, gender, and racial equity, and self-administration for the Karen people and promised to work in alliance with other organizations and ethnic groups with the common goal.
