SAGAING DIVISION – In recent days, clashes have erupted between the People’s Defense Force (PDF) and All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) fighters and junta soldiers in Katha and Indaw Townships, which border Kachin State.
Around 70 junta troops from the junta infantry battalion 121, responsible for guarding the junta fleet, exchanged fire with KPDF Battalion 12 in Indrant Village to the east of Katha Township.
“When the junta fleet arrived, those soldiers from IB-121 left to go to Bhamo. Upon the fleet’s return, they also retreated from Katha to the east bank using boats,” said a comrade from Katha PDF.
This junta column set fire to eight houses in Indrant Village and some houses in Ban Bwae Kone Village.
In Indaw Township, clashes persisted for two days between ABSDF fighters and junta soldiers, resulting in the deaths of eight junta troops and one ABSDF fighter, as announced by Indaw Revolution (IR).
The military tension remains high, causing over 6,000 civilians from Maw Tate, Ywar Thayar, Aung Kone, Nant Tha, Pae Pin, and Nant-Sin – Kyun Taw Villages to flee the area.
