SAGAING DIVISION- In Homelin Township, Shwepyiaye Town, military council and defense forces are fighting again, according to the residents.
Starting on February 14, the military council, Shan Ni Army (SNA), and militia forces of more than 200 members have launched the offensive, and as of today (February 19), the battle has been going on for 6 days.
It is said that the military council is launching a (second) offensive to retake Shwepyiaye Town, which they had lost.
Last January 23, the Military Council with more than 400 joint forces entered Shwepyiaye town and fought for 10 days, and they retreated on February 3rd.
“They are also launching aerial attacks, and the revolutionary groups are resisting back. The exact condition of the damage is not known. Fighting is also happening at Zeetaw village,” said a person close to the revolutionary forces.
The defense forces successfully seized Shwepyiaye town in the second offensive battle on November 23, nine months after the first battle on February 1, 2023.
In these areas, Khanti District Battalion 1, Battalion 2, and Battalion 3, Military Region 1 Special Forces, and local PDF groups are reportedly engaged in military operations.
The military council has been carrying out forceful offensives to retake the towns captured by the defense forces in the Sagaing Division, and on February 13, the military reseized Kawlin township, which had previously been seized by the PDFs.
