A source close to the court said that Dr. Aye Zan, Mon’s Prime Minister, had been sentenced to work and two years in prison under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code by the junta regime.
A case under Section 505 (b) had been filed against Dr. Aye Zan for allegedly urging civil servants to take part in the civil disobedience movement.
Dr. Aye Zan was sentenced by a special court in Kyaikmaraw Central Prison on the 17th of December.
The court has filed nine cases, also under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law, accusing Dr. Aye Zan of embezzling money from business people during his tenure.
Currently, Prime Minister Dr. Aye Zan is detained by the junta forces at Kyaikmaraw Central Prison.
Daw Mar Mar Khaing, an NLD MP from Thaton Township, who was arrested in Mon State, was sentenced by the junta forces to one year in prison under Section 505 (a) on 30th November.
