
SAGAING DIVISION – Sai Kyan Aung aka Say Line,a representative for Red Shan Literature and Culture of Southern Bhan Mauk (BM), Sagaing Division, was abducted by People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and has not been released as yet, Red Shan youth network stated.
The chairman of Red Shan Youth network, Sai Tun Aung said, ” It’s certain that the PDFs had abducted him but we cannot say which group did it. “
Sai Kyan Aung, is also the deputy chairman of the BM Township Red Shan Network. He was abducted on June 19 at the monastery in Mahn Kut Village, Mahn Kut region, BM Township.
He was on the return trip for development of Shan literature and was taking a rest in the monastery when he was abducted. The armed people opened fire, entered the monastery without taking off the shoes, searched the place and captured Sai Kyan Aung, reported a monk who was there when the abduction occurred.
“ This should not have happened and the responsible group should release him immediately, “ said Sai Tun Aung.
It is not known which group is involved and the reason for the abduction.
Red Shan organizations denounced and objected the abduction of the abduction of Sai Kyan Aung, who is a citizen and not a member of an armed force and if anything happens to him during the time he is detained, the PDFs are responsible for it.
There was a news conference about the case the previous day and National Unity Government stated that, it must be investigated if the involved Group is under MOD chain of command (COC) or is a local defense force. If it is a group under the COC, MOD will resolve the issue. The latest news disclosed that he has been released. The details of the detention, whether it is PDF under NUG or not are still at the investigative state, according to a spokesman.
The Red Shan Youth association reported that they have no contact with the detainee and that he has not been released as of June 22.
