
MANDALAY DIVISION – To mark the transition from defense warfare to guerrilla warfare, Outlaws with the Heart of Gold Group (OHGG) under Battalion 5 of Myingyan District’s People’s Defense Force attacked the junta regime forces extorting money from the boats. 2 regime soldiers were killed according to the announcement from the group that carried out the attack.
The sniper attack was carried out around 2 p.m. on Sunday (June 19). The regime forces and militia under their command were impounding 5 boats at the jetty of Nyaung To Village and extorting money at gunpoint. Nyaung To is a village in the Myingyan District of Mandalay Division.
“We got a tip-off from the public about regime forces and militia under them from Nyaung To Village impounding and terrorising (these boats). We went and attacked with snipers and 2 of the regime soldiers died and some were injured. 5 boats that were held at gunpoint were able to escape to safety,” said OHGG.
The regime forces with their war boat were staying at Si Mee Kon Jetty in Myingyan Township and extorting money from the boats passing by on the Irrawaddy River.
