
THAILAND – Thailand border patrols arrested thirty Myanmar nationals crossing the border illegally into two western provinces on June 19 (Sunday).
Among the detainees were twelve men and eighteen women, including six Thailand guides who were arrested in Htaung Pharfon and Saiyok provinces, police said.
It is known that they were from Mawlamyaing, Yangon, Bago, and Rakhine Regions when police interrogated them. They entered Thailand illegally across the border and were arrested during a meeting with Thailand guides in Htaung Pharfon and Saiyok provinces to bring them to work.
They paid brokers between 15,000 and 30,000 baht each to send them the jobs from Samut Sanskrit, Rayong, Kanchanaburi, and Bangkok.
Police in both districts are currently conducting the necessary interrogations and repatriation. The Thailand guides arrested with the illegal immigrants will also be sentenced for aiding and abetting illegal immigrants.
