MYANMAR – The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said that more than 2,000 civilians were murdered and 14,213 abducted due to the junta’s violence, more than 15 months after the junta coup in Myanmar.
AAPP collected that list from February 1, 2021, to June 21, 2022, and the actual number of casualties is likely to be higher. To date, 11,151 civilians are still abducted during the Spring Revolution, of which 1,168 have been sentenced.
Of those convicted, 74 civilians were sentenced to death, including two children under 18. As many as 120 civilians have been sentenced to death, including 41 in absentia, bringing the total to 115.
So far, 21 civilians have been released on bail and 3,041 have been released. AAPP said that at least 617 houses and buildings were confiscated illegally by the junta council between February 1, 2021, to May 30, 2022.
