Early in the morning of November 23rd, the military raided five villages (Thetkaekyin, Kaingtaw, Thapyaypinsu, Zeekyune and Palin) in Monywa township, Sagaing Region.
According to Monywa People’s Defense Force, one of its bases and an allied base located around those villages had been set on fire by the military. Four motorcycles were also burned. No PDF personnel had been arrested, but since the military was arresting civilians and villagers without any reason, the villagers had to flee and went into hiding.
Similar circumstances happened in Ayadaw township. According to the Ayadaw Information Team, the military raided Naunggyiain village in the morning of November 23rd and destroyed public property and stole money and valuables.
One villager said, “The military came into Naunggyiain village in the morning. With the guidance from an informant couple, they broke into five houses, searched them, and took money and all valuables with them. Since the villagers had already fled the village, it is hard to estimate the loses.”
There was a clash between the same military squad and the local armed force on November 22nd near Naunggyiain village and the military burned down 2 houses. While villagers had fled because of the conflict, the military took a motorcycle which had been left in the village. A man called Nay Lin and his wife, who are considered military informants, and who stay at the police station, accompanied the military during the raid.
